Dr. Madden moved to St. Louis from Boston to attend the M.D, Ph.D. program at Washington University in St. Louis where he received a medical degree and a PhD in Molecular Microbiology. He completed his Pediatric Residency training at St. Louis Children’s Hospital in 2005 and a Fellowship in Pediatric Rheumatology/Immunology in 2008. At that time he joined Esse Health as both a Primary Pediatrician and a Pediatric Rheumatologist. He has special interests in infectious disease, disorders of the immune system (both autoimmune disease and immunodeficiency), and the challenges of asynchronous development in gifted children. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and an Instructor in Clinical Pediatrics at Washington University School of Medicine. He is the founder of the Yale College Bioethics Society and served on the AMA Council of Ethical and Judicial Affairs.

Originally from Boston, Dr. Madden has lived in St. Louis since 1994. He is married and has three children. He enjoys playing with his family, reading, gardening and yes, Boston sports.
